Poker 101: Don’t let your emotions play your hand
One of the keys to being a successful poker player is to be able to stay mentally and emotionally fit. This means leaving all the baggage that happens away from the table at home before you sit down at the felt. In other words, no matter what happens outside of the game, you have to clear your head and focus on the task at hand if you don’t want to become dead money. This doesn’t mean that you don’t rush home for a family emergency, but it does mean that you have to get over an argument with your wife or husband so you don’t tilt off your chips.

Possibly the most over-played hand in poker is pocket rockets. Although it may seem insurmountable pre-flop, everything changes once the window hits the felt.
Smart players will keep quiet if they flop a set, and they will let you hang yourself if they put you on a paired hand or a high pocket pair.

RIP Amir Vahedi, Poker Professional dies at 48
In a tragic story coming out of Las Vegas, World Series of Poker bracelet winner Amir Vahedi has passed away after complications arising from diabetes, according to fellow poker pro Mark Seif.
Seif’s first words about Vahedi came via his website and read, “I’ve just been told by close friends of Amir Vahedi, that Vahedi passed away in Las Vegas on January 8, 2010, due to complications involving blood sugar levels. Waiting for for [sic] more details. Devastating news. Very very sad.”

Nicky Filart Wins Metro Cebu Cup
Nicky Filart, after a string of heartbreaking bridesmaid finishes in major tournaments, finally exorcised the curse by ruling the Metro Cebu Cup P2-Million Guaranteed Tournament held over the weekend at the Metro Card Club Cebu in Mandaue City.
