Call It What You Want

Many would call us insane for letting 52 playing cards decide our fate. We could try and defend ourselves but what’s the use? We do what we do for one reason. The love of a really amazing game. Mind you, this is not just any game, it is a game that demands more than what you read, more than what learn, more than what you feel. It requires all of the above, and beyond. We love this game because here we get to test out our mind reading skills, feel the surge of adrenaline, make obi wan kenobi proud with your jedi mind tricks, all in one hand. Who knows what’s waiting in the next.
I tried to explain to someone the other day, the basic mechanics of poker. I got so caught up in all the little juicy details that I started to laugh. They had not understood a word I said after I uttered the words, “So each player is dealt two hole cards…” I couldn’t help but get carried away. The mechanics of the game itself are brilliant, but it’s the art of the game that makes it magical. And addictive. It is gambling after all, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. It can, if you let it take ahold of you, become an addiction. That’s why, you must be strong, patient, and most of all understanding. This game will take you to the highest highs, and the lowest lows. Another reason why we love it so much. It’s love, it’s a relationship, it’s a religion. Live it, breathe it, love it, never underestimate it.
Taking peoples money, and earning a living is great, but you have to love this, to let it become a part of your life as a professional would. This is not what I would call an addiction. This is a passion. This is life.
