durrrr Challenge 2: Cates Adds to Lead

April 20, 2011

Dan “jungleman12” Cates added $39k to his lead in the durrrr Challenge 2 after playing 1,099 hands against Tom “durrrr” Dwan last night.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan

As per usual, Cates and Dwan were playing $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em over four tables.

The session started well for Dwan and after 600 hands he was up over $100k against jungleman12.
Dwan built the majority of his lead from a huge $100k pot where he made a hero call with 10-7 on a king-high board. Cates had absolute air and Dwan easily scooped the pot.

It would not last, however, and by the 700th hand, Cates and Dwan were once again even.

The rest of the session was essentially owned by jungleman12. At one point jungleman12 and durrrr both flopped trips but since Cates had the better kicker he secured a $101k pot.

By the time the session ended, Dwan was down by $39k, which was actually one of the smallest losses he’s recorded in the durrrr Challenge 2 recently.

After his most recent victory, Cates has booked wins in four consecutive sessions of the durrrr Challenge 2 and now has a $1.25 million lead over Dwan. Cates will receive $1.5 million extra from Dwan if he’s ahead by even $1 after 50,000 hands.

There are still 31,000 hands yet to be played in the challenge but neither player mentioned when they would resume the challenge.

The durrrr Challenge 2 was certainly not the only action that took place on Full Tilt last night. Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond had a huge PLO session and took down $584k while Gus Hansen finally booked a losing session, dropping $239k.
