Table Masters at The Metro… Pool table, that is!

In case you haven’t been to The Metro recently, you’ll notice a new addition to the sea of poker tables that are on the floor of the cardroom. A professional quality pool table sits right next to the VIP poker area, and players can use it anytime before 6pm.
Why only until 6pm? Because after 6pm, the greatest pool legends of the country all come to The Metro, and here they play and practice their billiards skills against each other, usually after playing poker with the regulars in The Metro. It was never really considered a mind game that can be mastered and done professionally until Filipinos bested the rest of the world in the sport. Now, Pool is a mainstream sport where professionals make big money and are considered celebrities. This is the direction where poker is headed. Right now, poker players are being recognized as skilled participants in a mind sport, and they are getting paid for it too! All over the world, the best poker players are being sponsored millions of dollars to play and represent big corporations in poker tournaments. Soon, poker players will be as big as the biggest sports stars. And it is a sport where Filipinos can compete with the best in the world, just like how it was proved by The Metro’s very own Neil Arce who won The Asian Poker Tour and got paid P8.7 million in cash!
