1. NEKOTYAN: -$837,000
NEKOTYAN is rumored to be Russian Vitaly Lunkin, who won close to $3 million at the 2009 WSOP.
If it is Lunkin, at least he has cash to spare.
Normally a Limit Hold’em specialist the NEKOTYAN account lost more than $300k to Gus Hansen in $500/$1,000 Cap PLO alone.
2. Phil Ivey: -$612,000
Full Tilt legend Phil Ivey had a shockingly bad start to 2011.
Although he played only 581 hands he still managed to lose over half a million dollars.
Down sound the alarm bells just yet though. Ivey has dug himself into early holes several years running and always found a profit by the time the year ends.
There’s also those Macau live high stakes cash games where Ivey was rumored to have won a considerable amount of money.
3. Sauce123 (PokerStars): -$556,000
Ben “Sauce123” Sulsy had an absolutely disastrous month on PokerStars.
The U.S. player took part in over 10,000 hands but there’s a good chance he wishes he had avoided the tables all together month.
4. Kpederson: – $543,000
The Kpederson account, owned by Richard Lyndaker, has only been active in the high stakes games for a few months and, after a terrible January, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise to see it disappear entirely.
In January Kpederson lost over $500k and was absolutely hammered by URnotINdanger2 at $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em on several occasions.
We’ll see if Lyndaker can turn it around this month of if he’ll slip down to some smaller stakes.
5. cadillac1944: -$478,000
cadillac1944 has shown he isn’t afraid to tackle some of the highest games available online but it hasn’t exactly worked out for him.
After losing $1.8 million in 2010, cadillac1944 got right back to work in the first month of 2011 by losing $478k.
On plus side he’s got 11 months to get even.
