Who is Antonio Esfandiari?
Born on December 8, 1978, in Tehran, Iran, Antonio Esfandiari started his life as Amir Esfandiari. His family moved to California when he was 9, where he had his name changed to Anthony because of the teasing he received at school. After turning 19, he changed his name again, this time to Antonio.
Barry Shulman Wins WSOPE
The WSOP main event in Las Vegas and the WSOP Europe are different tournaments. Vegas brings 6,494 players competing on poker’s biggest stage while Europe offers a much smaller environment (334 players in 2009) but a harder field. Gone are the thousands of amateurs in Europe, pro after pro after pro. It’s a tournament filled with the best, and for the second year in a row, the final table featured six WSOP bracelet winners and some very familiar faces.
Joe Cada
Like many young aspiring poker pros, Joe Cada realized that college wasn’t for him. The Shelby Township, MI native took the leap toward becoming a professional poker player shortly after beginning classes at Macomb Community College. And while most dropouts find the transition difficult, Cada’s decision to leave school turned out to be the most lucrative of his young life: a short time later he became a member of the 2009 World Series of Poker November Nine.

He stunned the world of poker after beating a record-breaking 5,618 player field in the World Series of Poker 2005, where he won a tremendous prize cash sum of $7,500,000. That’s right, we’re obviously having Joseph Hachemin mind, also known to some as Joe Hachem.

Viewers of High Stakes Poker have grown accustomed to the outlandish prop bets that are made by poker’s elite, but this past episode may have eclipsed all of the others. During the episode, Phil Ivey and instant pokersensation, Tom Dwan hashed out a $1 million bet on whether Ivey could go “vegetarian” for a year.

Huck Seed
Born on November 30, 1968 and standing 6 ft 7 inch tall, poker player Huck Seed is recognizable from his height alone. He was once a member of the Montana All-State basketball team and played basketball at CalTech before he dropped out of college to become a professional poker player. Huck Seed had been studying electrical engineering at CalTech, but discovered that poker was a much more lucrative profession. He now plays poker professionally at Full Tilt Poker.
