Antonius Up By $424,000 After 2-Hour ‘durrr Challenge’ Session
May 23, 2009
Patrik Antonius has been having a good poker year so far. Aside from posting really great online cash game results consistently this year, he has held on to a $424,000 lead in the much-publicized ‘durrr Challenge’ over the equally-skilled Tom “durrr” Dwan. In the latest session of the challenge, the two rivals played 693 hands of Heads-Up Pot Limit Omaha where Antonius won $32,927 to total $424,631.
As always, the biggest pots generated the most interest. No one, however, was the clear-cut big pot winner that night as Dwan and Antonius split evenly when it came to taking down the giant pots. Dwan got the first big pot that night that we led off with $1,200. Antonius raised to $3,600 and Dwan re-raised him to $10,800 which Antonius called. The flop was Jd-7h-3c and both players checked. Antonius bet $21,600 when the 10h showed up on the turn and Dwan moved all-in for $39,399. Antonius called with Ac-Kd-Qc-4h for a straight draw and overcards. Dwan was ahead with Kh-Qd-10d-8h for middle pair, straight draw and flush draw. Dwan made two pair with 8c on the river to win the $100,397 pot.
Dwan put one over Antonius when all their chips went in the middle on a Kh-10s-4d-3d board. Antonius was ahead with two-pair holding As-10c-8s-3c while Dwan had good outs with Ad-Qd-Qs-5d. Unfortunately for Antonius, the 6d hit the river and Dwan took home the $110,000 pot. It was then Antonius turn to get lucky when he took $147,583 with As-Js-8h-3c. Dwan had Ad-Qd-Qs-5d but the 9s-6s-4c-3h-10s board gave Antonius the nut flush and the win.
It was also Dwan who took out the session’s largest pot when he bet out $1,200 and was raised to $3,600 buy Antonius. Dwan called to see the Jh-9s-4h flop. Dwan bet $4,800 after Antonius checked and was check-raised to $21,600 which he called. The Ks on the turn induced Antonius to bet $50,400. Dwan pushed All-In holding top two pair with Kc-Jh-9s-4h and was called. Antonius had a smaller two pair with As-Jd-9h-7d. The 5s on the river sealed Dwan’s $153,225 win.
Will the two professionals meet again for a session before the World Series of Poker begins? No one knows. But you can railbird the match by visiting Full Tilt Poker.
