WSOP Satellites at PokerStars Begin

April 24, 2009

PokerStars has finally opened up its satellites to the biggest poker event of the year—the 2009 World Series of Poker. PokerStars who earns bragging rights to having sent the most players to the WSOP is trying to keep its record by running WSOP satellites around the clock at a variety of buy-ins and methods. From Sit-and-Gos to rebuy MTT tournaments, poker players will have the option to try their luck at a format of their choosing.

Small-stakes players will have no problem coughing up buy-ins for the numerous PokerStars WSOP satellites as there are tournaments that will go for as low as $2. The $2 rebuy tourney (along with the $3 rebuy, $4.40 triple-shootout and $11 shoot-out) will get you into Main Event qualifiers.

If you don’t wish to go the long route, you can also join the PokerStars weekly $650 multi-table tournaments, $33 rebuy (daily) or the $215 double shootout that also runs daily. The winner will get a seat to the WSOP Main Event.

There are other ways to win a Main Event seat via PokerStars. There will be $27 and $80 MTTs and rebuy tournaments ranging from $8.80 buy-in to $27. There will also be a $24 double shootout and a $55 quadruple shootout.

If you have absolutely no bankroll, PokerStars will be hosting tournaments for those with FPPs. Three lucky players will be sent to the Main Event via PokerStars’ weekly FPP qualifier every single week. All you need is 4,000 FPP to qualify. For those whose FPPs are depleted, you can join daily satellites for 40-400 FPP to get into the qualifier.

Lucky winners of the PokerStars satellites will win a prize package worth $12,000. This includes a seat to the WSOP Main Event worth $10,000, eight nights accommodation and a whopping $1,000 in prize money.
