It was an action-packed day at the most popular card room in the Philippines with the Metro Card Club kicking off a six day festival featuring a 2 MILLION GUARANTEED Main Event. This marked the second event of its kind this year with the first one held last February. The opening flight, Day 1A, drew in a sizeable field of 145 entries which was a superb start with three flights still to follow.

Day 1A of the 2M GTD

As always, the field was largely dominated by the local force with many notable players scattered around the room. At the end of the scheduled 15 rounds, a tight pack of 21 players remained. Impressively, Germany’s Markus Hennig defied the odds by closing out Day 1A as the chip leader. He amassed 191,300 which was nearly 13x the starting stack.

Trailing the leader by a very close margin was Filipino player Ian Acosta with 190,100.
