Metro Mid Year Special Wraps up 1st week
June 8, 2009
The Metro Mid year special completed it’s first successful week for the month of June, with players flocking in record numbers to The Metro Card Club and playing some of the best tournament poker we’ve seen so far.
On tournament nights, you will find over 200 players filling up almost every single table in the card room, cash games and tournaments alike. The festive atmosphere of the poker tournaments really gives off a positive vibe and gets players in the mood for poker!
The Metro Monday 200k was packed with 100 players, but Regular Metro Player Sam Peralta emerged victorious at the end of a grueling tournament. The Metro75×3 was also filled to capacity and ended up with previous Metro75 winner and Metro Davao 1M champ Jojo Tech getting his third title in a span of one month! The next tournament, Metro75 Original, showed a final table full of veteran players (now common in Metro tournaments, showing skill truly plays a bigger role than luck in this game) and was won by another regular Vincent Ilagan. Finally, The Metro Saturday Special was packed with 130 players with the pot reaching P460,000! Another highly skilled veteran of local and international poker tournaments Bryan Sombero claimed the top spot, taking home P120,000 and of course bragging rights in beating out 129 of the best tournament players out there!
Another three weeks of great poker awaits the players at The Metro Card Club. Do you think you have what it takes to be a champion in the best poker room in the country? There’s only one way to find out!

See you at The Metro!

why don’t you have one big tournament a month? It will not cost you anything because the prize pool will come from the players. then you will have one monthly champion instead of ten or twenty champions. And being champion would become more meaningful. Satellite tournaments can take the place of your four tournaments every week.
The Metro DOES have BIG tournaments every now and then. There was the PERFECT 10, TEN MILLION PESOS guaranteed, P28,000 buyin, a few months ago. The Champion of that tournament won P3 MILLION, so it’s pretty meaningful. It was a Pokerstars FILIPINO POKER TOUR event as well, to be televised in a series of poker shows. Then there is the upcoming METRO HI-5, FIVE MILLION PESOS guaranteed, P11,000 buy-in, another FPT event, which will most likely give more than P1 million to first place again.
ALL the champions of The Metro’s BIG tournaments are now millionaires, because the past champions have won at least P1 million. meaningful if you ask me.
I think you misunderstood that these tournaments are considered BIG. They are actually considered normal tournaments at the Metro. The Metro HI-5 will have 500 or more players, Now THAT is big!
