Neil Arce Takes 3rd Place ($84,218) in APPT Macau High Roller Event

The APPT High Roller event in Macau lived up to it’s name with 64 of the best of the best in the poker world participating, including the legendary WSOP champion Johnny Chan, 2009 WPT and 2008 APT Champion Yevgeny Timoshenko, 2009 APT Macau runner up Ingwook Choi, 2008 APPT Manila Champion Van Marcus, 2009 Aussie Millions PLO Champion Lee “Final Table” Nelson, 2007 APPT Sydney Grand Final Main Event Champion Grant Levy, 2007 APPT Sydney 6-Handed Champion Terrence Chan, FTP Online sensation Jonathan “xMONSTERxDONGx” Karamalikis, 2006 WPT Ladies Champion JJ Lieu and our own FPT multi-Champion Kent Del Rosario, and more.

Our very own Metro Champion Neil “Dirty Ice Cream” Arce barely survived day 1, being almost last in chips. But day 2 saw the home-grown champ climb his way back into contention and make it to the star-studded final table which included WSOP Champion Johnny Chan. Proving he can tangle with the legends of the game, Neil took the chip lead with 5 players left.

When it came down to the last 3, it was Johnny Chan, Neil, and Online high stakes player Vladimir Geshkenbein. The young European took the chip lead and got into a big hand with Neil that came down to Neil pushing all-in on the flop with top pair, only to find out that Vladimir had bottom set. He was eliminated in 3rd place for $84,000+.

Great game by Neil who made another big cash after winning the APT Manila main event early this year. He is now undisputedly the best local player in terms of cash winnings with over $350,000 in tournament prizes.
