Final Day action

Action was quick at the get-go with players falling like flies. Local pro Emmanuel Segismundo experienced some wild swings but after landing a sick double up against Janno Alvarez with counterfeiting on a board running , it was full speed ahead. Segismundo entered the final table at the helm.

The final table of 10 players saw Segismundo taking command while Angeles was in search of the moment to shine.

The final table of 10 players saw Segismundo taking command while Angeles was in search of the moment to shine. Angeles found the spot to do so with doubling up through Alvarez’s with a king showing up on the board. Not long after, Angeles shipped in a sweet pot by bad beating Jon Jon Lumanian (10th). Angeles had that improved to a full house against Lumanian’s with the board spreading out .

Before we saw more of Angeles, it was Dee who skyrocketed with a huge takedown. She sent two players out simultaneously with her . The casualties were Janno Alvarez [8th] and Venoni Paltep Jr [9th].

Angeles helped downsize the table once more, denying Mark Robert Sy’s A-K top two pair a double up with a set of nines. However, from there Angeles suffered big losses to his stack with Dee taking the biggest chunk. She five-bet shoved and won a monster pot preflop after Angeles surrendered his hand.

After the fall of Juan Paolo Dela Pena (6th) and Carlrex Co (5th), Angeles doubled up through William Anonuevo with his gamble paying off against . Both of his cards paired up.

Angeles’s road to victory

Using the momentum of the double up, Angeles proceeded to charge up the ranks. He eliminated Anonuevo in 4th place then finished off Segismundo in 3rd place to enter the final heads up round against Dee. Angeles was ahead both in chips and in experience. In the end, there wasn’t much Dee could do. Angeles exuded full dominance winning a multitude of pots. The final hand saw Dee shove with a desperate but ran right into Angeles’s .

Congratulations to Rommel Angeles!! He is the Metro Card Club’s newest champion!! He opens 2018 on the board with a victory and the single highest payout of his career.
